Iran’s highest operational command unit has warned the US that the Islamic Republic’s imminent retaliation against unlawful and unprovoked aggression on the country’s nuclear sites carries unforeseeable consequences, noting that time is not on Washington’s side.

The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which coordinates joint military operations by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Army, issued the warning on Monday, a day after the American aggression struck uranium enrichment facilities in the north-central and central parts of Iran.

The American attacks would be followed by “powerful and targeted operations,” the headquarters said through its spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaqari.

The retaliation “will impose severe, regret-inducing, and unpredictable consequences on you,” he added. “We assure you that with this act of aggression, the hands of time will not turn in your favor.”

The spokesperson, meanwhile, noted that although the US had carried out the attacks in support of the Israeli regime -- its most cherished regional ally -- it failed abysmally.

“This hostile act was aimed at reviving the dying Zionist regime, but not only did it fail, it will also expand the range of legitimate and diverse targets for Iran’s armed forces,” he said.

The Islamic Republic has already showcased its military prowess during 21 phases of Operation True Promise III, targeting strategic Israeli military sites deep inside the occupied territories.

Operation True Promise III came in response to the Israeli aggression that began last Friday and has claimed more than 400 lives so far, including military commanders, scientists, women and children.

Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, earlier on Monday, said US attacks have given the armed forces a “free hand” to exact revenge.

He added that the Islamic Republic now has unlimited range of options to adopt against the Zionist entity, the US’s “illegitimate and aggressive offspring.”
